Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

After breakfast, embark on a drive to Machame Gate, the starting point of the Machame Route. Register at the gate and begin your trek into the lush rainforest. The trail gradually ascends, offering glimpses of Kilimanjaro's towering peaks through the dense vegetation. Arrive at Machame Camp, where tents are set up for your overnight stay. Enjoy dinner and rest as you prepare for the days ahead.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Today's trek takes you through varying landscapes as you leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone. Ascend steadily, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Pass through the Shira Plateau, a vast expanse of high-altitude desert, before reaching Shira Camp. Settle in for the night, marveling at the starry sky above.

Day 4: Barranco Camp

Via Lava Tower Depart Shira Camp and trek towards Lava Tower, a prominent volcanic formation. As you ascend, you'll notice the landscape changing once again, with rocky terrain and sparse vegetation. Reach Lava Tower for a brief rest and acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp. The highlight of the day is tackling the Barranco Wall, a thrilling scramble that rewards you with stunning views from the top. Spend the night at Barranco Camp, nestled in a valley beneath the towering cliffs.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Continue your journey towards the summit, traversing rocky terrain and ascending gradually. Pass through the Karanga Valley, a rugged landscape dotted with giant boulders. Arrive at Karanga Camp, perched on a rocky ridge with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Take time to rest and acclimatize, preparing yourself for the final push to the summit.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Today's trek takes you to Barafu Camp, the final base camp before the summit. Ascend steadily through barren landscapes, feeling the altitude with each step. Arrive at Barafu Camp, located on a rocky ridge with commanding views of the summit. Rest and hydrate, as tonight marks the beginning of your summit attempt. Enjoy an early dinner before heading to bed early to rest before the long night ahead.

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak

In the early hours of the morning, begin your summit attempt under the glow of your headlamp. Trek slowly and steadily, following the switchback trail towards Stella Point. As dawn breaks, reach the crater rim and continue along the rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement as you watch the sunrise from the summit. Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp. Enjoy your final night on the mountain, reflecting on your incredible journey.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

Descend through the lush rainforest, savoring the sights and sounds of the mountain one last time. Arrive at Mweka Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificates and bid farewell to your guides and porters. Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, where you can indulge in a hot shower and a well-deserved celebration dinner.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight, bringing an end to your Mount Kilimanjaro adventure. Depart Tanzania with memories to last a lifetime and a sense of accomplishment for having conquered Africa's highest peak.

Things to Carry

If you are planning to go on the Mount Kilimanjaro Trek Tanzania, here are some essential items that you should carry with you:

  • Backpack: A sturdy backpack with a capacity of at least 40-50 liters to carry all your essentials.
  • Trekking Shoes: Good quality trekking shoes with a good grip and ankle support.
  • Warm Clothes: It is essential to carry warm clothes as the temperatures can drop significantly at night. Carry thermals, fleece jackets, down jackets, gloves, and woollen socks.

  • Miscellaneous: Carry a camera, power bank, and pocket knife for emergencies.

The Mount Kilimanjaro Trek Tanzania is located in the Moshi and Arusha city of Tanzania, and the nearest city is Moshi. You can reach Moshi by air. From Moshi , you can hire a taxi to reach Machame Gate, the starting point of the Mount Kilimanjaro Trek.

While Hello Hikers rarely cancels treks due to our efficient ground operations, cancellations can happen due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, government regulations, or any other factors beyond our control. In such cases, the following cancellation policy will be applicable.

To ensure a hassle-free experience, we recommend making your booking at least two months in advance. If you do need to cancel your trek, please inform us in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive written advice.

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

We have designed a cancellation policy that is fair, feasible, and convenient for all our customers. The procedure is as follows:

  • If you cancel your trek 21 or more days before the start date, we will deduct 10% towards GST and transaction charges and refund 90% as a trek voucher valid for 1 year.
  • If you cancel your trek 15-20 days before the start date, we will deduct 30% towards GST, transaction, accommodation at base, ration, etc., and refund 70% as a trek voucher valid for 1 year.
  • If you cancel your trek 7-14 days before the start date, we will deduct 50% towards GST, transaction, accommodation at the base, ration, trek leaders, permits, equipment, etc., and refund 50% as a trek voucher that is valid for 1 year.
  • If you cancel your trek 1-6 days before the start date, we will deduct 100% as all arrangements have been made, and we are ready to take you on the trek.

We also have some terms and conditions for the trek voucher:

  • The voucher will be valid for 12 months from the date of issuance.
  • The voucher can be used for any trek with Hello Hikers.
